Causes of Plantar Fasciitis
In general, if there’s an over-pressure due to some physical causes on the plantar fascia that will make plantar fascia to be overloaded, irritated, and inflamed, resulting in the condition named plantar fasciitis.
The most common causes that increase stress on the plantar fascia are:
- Overweight. Especially sudden weight gain.
- Prolonged standing. Even you have a thin body, the effect of gravity will affect you. There are the following examples of occupations which involve standing for an extended period: these occupations are employee at factory, dentistry, airport security, and teaching profession.

- Foot deformities. Like, moderate to severe high medial arch or flat foot, making an overpressure on plantar fascia due to abnormal body biomechanics.
- Pregnancy. Due to weight gain usually late in the last trimester of pregnancy.
